#GOLWR – 2017

This past Sunday, August 6th, was the 2017 version of Lifebanc’s, Gift of Life Walk and Run. The event started with a light cool breeze, filtered sunshine and a crowd of a few thousand. Opening remarks and speeches were made with a countdown to a balloon launch to remember our donors, donor families, life, and those that help us on our respective journeys. The music began …… Jim Brickman’s song, “Never Alone” with Lady Antebellum …………

May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when it’s time to go home
May you always have plenty
The glass never empty
Know in your belly
You’re never alone
May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
As every year passes
They mean more than gold
May you win and stay humble
Smile more than grumble
And know when you stumble
You’re never alone
Never alone
Never alone
It was a day filled with emotions, many tears were shed, many hugs were given and love flowed from Blossom Music Center. Of course there just as many laughs and giggles as we had fun. One of our team members, Eric McLellan (Great nephew of Bill & Marilyn Dlugos) was our lone runner this year and he came in 1st in his age group and 9th overall. It was also Dave Engeman’s 2nd Heart Anniversary. At this point, our team of 25+ has raised $1,395 to help Lifebanc continue to raise awareness about the benefits of organ donation.
